Assigning a vehicle to a unit
Assigning a vehicle to a unit
You can assign a vehicle to a unit using either of two methods. Both produce the same result — choose whichever is more convenient for your workflow.
One-unit rule: each vehicle belongs to exactly one unit at a time. Assigning a vehicle to a unit automatically removes it from any unit it was previously in.
—
Method 1 — From the unit form
Use this method when you are setting up or updating a unit and want to assign multiple vehicles at once.
- Go to
Settings → Units. - Click Add unit to create a new unit, or click the pencil (edit) icon next to an existing unit.
- In the Vehicles field, click the
Choose vehiclesselector. - Search for and select each vehicle you want to add to this unit.
- Click Save.
All selected vehicles are moved into this unit immediately.

Method 2 — From the vehicle’s edit form
Use this method when you are already editing a vehicle and want to set its unit at the same time.
- Open the vehicle you want to assign (for example from the Vehicles list).
- Click the Edit button for that vehicle.
- Find the Unit field in the vehicle form.
- Select the unit from the dropdown.
- Save the vehicle.
The vehicle is now a member of the selected unit.

Removing a vehicle from a unit
To remove a vehicle from a unit without assigning it to another one:
- In the unit form, deselect the vehicle from the
Choose vehiclesfield and save. - In the vehicle form, clear the
Unitfield and save.
The vehicle becomes unassigned and is visible to all team members who are not restricted to a specific unit.
