How to dismount and store tires

Dismounting tires in Movcar is the mirror of mounting: you toggle Installed off, record where the tires are going, and the system updates the changeover history. Most common reason: seasonal swap.

Step 1 — Open the tires record

My Fleet → Tires. Find the set you want to dismount — they’ll show a green ✓ in the Installed column. Click the pencil ✏️ on the row.

Step 2 — Uncheck “Installed”

In the edit form, scroll to the Installed checkbox and clear it. The Tires position field stops being required.

Step 3 — Record where the tires are going

This is the step that pays for itself months later. Fill in:

• Depository address — where the tires will be stored. Examples: – “Movcar warehouse, Karolkowa 22” – “Driver’s garage — Jan Test” – “Workshop X — winter storage 2026”

Without this, you’ll be hunting through emails next spring trying to remember where you left them.

💡 Tip — If your fleet uses a consistent storage facility, you can paste the same address every time. Movcar doesn’t validate — it’s free text.

Step 4 — Update the dismount date (auto)

Movcar records the dismount date automatically based on when you save. If you’re entering this retroactively (e.g. logging a tire change from last week), you can also adjust this from the tire history later — though most teams just enter the current date.

Step 5 — Save

Top-right, click Save. The Tires list updates:

• Installed column shows red ✗
• Installation date clears (or shows the previous installation date as “last mounted”)
• Tires position is no longer shown for this row

What about mileage at dismount?

The vehicle’s current odometer is captured at the moment of dismount. Movcar uses the difference between mount-mileage and dismount-mileage to calculate how many km the tires drove during that installation period. View this in the tire-history report — see View tire history.

What’s next?

• Mount a different set in their place (e.g. winter tires after dismounting summer)
• If the tires are end-of-life (worn out, damaged), you can also delete them via the trash icon — though many teams prefer to keep the record and just set the Manufacturer warranty expiration to the dismount date for archive purposes.
