Logging in as a driver

📝 Beta article — this article is part of our new help center. If a step doesn’t match what you see in Movcar, let us know — we’re refining the content daily.

Most drivers pair the Movcar app to their fleet using a short App Connection Code sent by their fleet manager. No password needed, no account to create. Some fleets use email + password instead — both paths are documented below.

Option A — App Connection Code (most common)

This is the default flow for fleets where each vehicle has one paired driver.

Step 1 — Open the Movcar app

Tap the app icon. On first launch, you’ll see a welcome screen with two buttons: Pair with Code and Sign in.

Step 2 — Tap “Pair with Code”

A keypad opens. The app asks for the code.

Step 3 — Enter the code

Type the code your fleet manager sent (e.g. M3K7-Q2). The hyphen is optional — M3K7Q2 works too. Letters are case-insensitive.

Tap Pair.

Step 4 — Confirm the vehicle

The app shows you the vehicle the code is linked to — license plate, model, fleet name. Check this is the right vehicle. If wrong, tap Cancel and contact your fleet manager.

If correct, tap Confirm pairing.

That’s it. The home screen appears and you’re paired.

🔒 Each code is single-use until regenerated — once you pair, the code is consumed. If your fleet manager wants to pair a second phone, they need to regenerate the code.

Option B — Sign in with email + password

For fleets that use individual driver accounts (e.g. drivers who rotate between many vehicles).

Step 1 — Tap “Sign in”

On the welcome screen.

Step 2 — Enter email and password

These are set when your fleet manager added you as a driver in the admin. If you don’t have a password, tap Forgot password to reset it via email.

Step 3 — Pick a vehicle

After signing in, the app shows the vehicles you’re authorised to drive. Tap the one you’re using right now.

You can switch vehicles later from the app’s profile menu.

When pairing or login fails

“Code not recognised”

  • The code has already been used. Ask your fleet manager to regenerate.
  • You typed the wrong code. Check the message from the fleet manager and re-enter.
  • The vehicle was archived. The code becomes invalid when the vehicle is archived. Fleet manager needs to restore the vehicle (or pair you to a different one).

“No internet connection”

The pairing handshake needs internet (Wi-Fi or mobile data). Once paired, most app functions work offline — you can log refuellings, routes, and handovers offline and they sync when you get signal again.

“This phone is already paired”

The app only supports one active pairing at a time. To pair to a different vehicle:

  1. Open the Profile menu in the app.
  2. Tap Unpair vehicle.
  3. Confirm.
  4. Pair the new code.
