How to delete a document
Deleting a document is the right move for:
- A test or accidental upload.
- A document type that no longer applies (e.g. you cancelled a vignette early).
- A duplicate (same document uploaded twice).
For renewals, don’t delete — edit the existing document and extend the validity dates. That preserves the document’s history and keeps the same database ID, which matters if other things reference it.
Step 1 — Find the document
My Fleet → Documents. Search by vehicle plate or document type.
Step 2 — Click the trash icon
At the right end of the row, click 🗑. Movcar asks for confirmation.
Step 3 — Confirm
Click Delete. The document is removed and a green confirmation toast appears.
What gets deleted
| Affected | Notes |
|---|---|
| The document record | Gone. |
| The attached file | Also deleted from Movcar’s storage. Keep a copy elsewhere if you need to retain it for legal/audit reasons. |
| The vehicle’s compliance status | Reverts to whatever it was before the document was added (e.g. if this was the only valid insurance, the vehicle now shows as having no MTPL). |
| The Expenses entries linked to the document | Also removed. |
| The mobile app view | Drivers stop seeing this document in their app. |
Tip: use “Show expired” to clean up
If you’re tidying up old documents, untick Show valid documents and tick Show expired documents in the filter strip. You’ll see documents that have lapsed and can decide which to delete (for cleanup) vs which to keep as historical records.
